High-Altitude Preparation Above 12,000 Feet
While standard prep courses rarely venture above 10,000 feet, Rescue And Mountain Skills School establishes camps and conducts summit pushes above 12,000 feet, in the La Sal Mountains near Moab, Utah. This demanding elevation enables you to test acclimation, evaluate your physiological work capacity under heavy loads, and stress-test your complete cold-weather kit before stepping onto the Kahiltna Glacier.
Small Groups, Authentic Ranger Experience
Forget standard industry courses with 10 to 14 participants. We cap every course at only six students to deliver intensive, personalized mentorship. Your lead instructor is a two-time Denali summit climber and conducted a 30 day National Park Service Mountaineering Patrol who conducted actual search and rescue operations on Denali. You will gain unvarnished insight into what gear works, what fails, and how proactive decisions keep your expedition out of a rescue scenario.

This program is specifically engineered for self-led climbing parties and independent mountaineers preparing for an unguided Denali expedition. Prospective students must possess excellent physical conditioning, cold-weather camping familiarity, and the complete personal gear kit intended for Alaska.
