Whether you are a mountain biker, hiker, rafter, backpacker, or weekend adventurer, this course is tailored for everyone who loves to explore remote environments. You do not need any prior medical background or training to enroll. Over 16 intensive and practical hours, you will gain the foundational mindset and essential competencies needed to step up and provide effective care when an emergency happens outside.

Essential Wilderness Medical Skills

You will master the critical protocols required to stabilize patients and make informed evacuation choices. Key topics include initial patient assessment, wound management, shock, bone and joint injuries, and head and spine trauma. We also cover environmental emergencies such as hypothermia and heat illness, medical issues like diabetic emergencies, making transport decisions, and building effective first aid kits with basic wilderness equipment.

Realistic field training and small groups

We believe medicine is learned by doing, not sitting in a lecture hall or on a manicured patch of lawn. Our courses take place in actual wilderness terrain around Moab with minimal classroom time and maximum scenario-based training.
